Hurricane katrina relief deployment
Deployed by the US Department of Health and Human Services to lead a volunteer relief team to expand the State of Louisiana's capacity to provide PTSD, substance abuse and other mental health services. Efforts resulted in procuring donations of psychiatric medications to create a centralized pharmacy to serve all parishes impacted by the storm. In collaboration with the City of New Orleans police psychologist, developed the first formal mental PTSD screening for public health employees. Procured hotel accommodations for registered nurses employed by Tulane University Hospital who had recently returned from evacuation.
Georgia Council on problem gambling
Pioneer and catalyst who oversaw the ground up development of the Georgia Council on Problem Gambling, the first state chapter of the National Council on Problem Gambling. Pressed for Governor Nathan Deal's executive order for March Problem Gambling Awareness Month for 3 consecutive years, the first such proclamation by a Georgia governor. Responsible for all day to day operations.
